May 1, 2009 - Chesterfield, MO: The City of Columbia, Missouri has installed two ANDRITZ thickening centrifuges to thicken waste activated sludge at their wastewater treatment facility. Andritz supplied two model D7LL centrifuges and their innovative "Easy Pond" system, a new control system that monitors the sludge characteristics and automatically adjusts the relative bowl speed and other machine parameters to optimize performance. City personnel and Black & Veatch, the consulting engineer for the City, performed an extensive review of alternatives and recommended the ANDRITZ Centrifuge for its high performance, ease of operation and maintenance, and its ability to thicken waste activated sludge without polymers or other chemicals.
